At SDOO Głubczyce in Lower Silesia, Poland, we conduct a plot experiment in Euforia winter wheat. Almost at the end of the experiment, the plots with a rich varietal collection and many experiments using plant protection products and various fertilization systems were exposed to heavy rainfall and strong wind. The losses are visible. In most plots the wheat lay down or leaned over. However, the VitaFer experience is doing well – it is one of the few plots that is “standing firm” and waiting to be harvested. Wheat developed properly throughout the entire growing season. It was characterized by a very strong root system, high health of leaves and stems (no symptoms of drought diseases were noted) and proper stem stiffness. The last inspection was carried out on July 2, 2024 – the wheat still retains the greenness of the flag leaf and intensively fills the grain in the ear.
Four treatments were performed on the experimental plot:
Autumn: in the 6 leaf phase, foliar treatment was performed using Micro 1l/ha + Macro P 3l/ha + Zn + B 1l/ha
Spring – start of vegetation Micro 1l/ha + Macro P 3l/ha + Zn + B 1l/ha + N+ 5l/ha
Spring – the beginning of shooting at the blade, Micro 1l/ha + Zn + B 1/ha + Green 2l/ha + N+ 5l/ha + Mg 2l/ha
Spring – flag leaf applied N+ 5l/ha + Mg 2l/ha + Green 2l/ha
Experience observations show that one of the most important foliar fertilization treatments is autumn. The plants entered the winter period with a strong root system. Foliar fertilization resulted in appropriate concentration of juices and the plants passed the winter period in excellent condition. In spring, regeneration was short and the plants did not use much energy in this process. This allowed the plants to survive unscathed, first the period of high soil moisture in early spring and then the period of drought in May.
