In a VitaFer field trial conducted in Pawłowice during the 2024/2025 season, the Gentleman winter wheat variety treated with the VitaFer hybrid technology achieved a yield of 102.92 dt/ha, compared with 91.44 dt/ha in the control. This represents a difference of 11.48 dt/ha, or approximately 12.6%. Thousand grain weight was also higher in the VitaFer treatment, reaching 43.1 g compared with 41.6 g in the control. news 22.10.2026
The trial included five replications and two treatments. These results should be considered as the outcome of the complete VitaFer programme under the specific conditions of this location and season, rather than attributed to a single application or nutrient. Crop nutrition is influenced by the interaction between nutrient selection, formulation, application timing and growing conditions. news 22.10.2026
The Role of Manganese in Winter Wheat Nutrition
Manganese was one of the micronutrients included in the programme. It is involved in processes related to photosynthesis, enzyme activity and nitrogen utilisation, all of which are important for normal plant functioning and crop development. news 22.10.2026
In foliar nutrition, nutrient concentration alone does not fully determine how a product performs. The form in which the element is supplied is also important. In VitaFer Mn Complex, manganese is complexed with sodium glucoheptonate (HGA), a formulation designed to stabilise the nutrient and support its uptake by plant tissues. news 22.10.2026
The Result of a Complete Nutrition Programme
The Pawłowice trial illustrates the performance of the complete VitaFer programme under the conditions of this particular field trial. The VitaFer treatment achieved both a higher yield and a higher thousand grain weight compared with the control.
For this reason, foliar fertilization of winter wheat should be assessed as a complete nutrition strategy rather than through the effect of a single nutrient alone. Manganese and its formulation were one part of that programme, alongside nutrient selection, application timing and the conditions in which the crop was grown.
Under the Pawłowice trial conditions, this approach resulted in a yield difference of 11.48 dt/ha compared with the control, while thousand grain weight increased from 41.6 g to 43.1 g.
