One of the most dangerous fungal diseases in onions is pink onion root rot caused by Phoma terrestris. The roots infected by the pathogen take on a characteristic light pink color, which turns red over time. The roots of the onions break down and the plants look as if they are suffering from a lack of nutrients and water. The pathogen that causes the disease can survive for several years in the soil and infect subsequent crops. One of the ways to prevent or significantly reduce the pressure of this disease is the use of microbiological fertilizer preparations containing beneficial strains of Trichoderma fungi.

VitaFer SOIL PROTECT ® is a microbiological fertilizer designed to increase the resistance of plants against many fungal and bacterial diseases. It contains spores of the fungi Trichoderma harzianum, viride and lignorum in the amount of 2 x 10⁹ CFU/gram. The preparation is intended for soil and foliar spraying, as well as dressing bulbs and seeds for planting/sowing.

Dosages and timing of use:

– 0.3 to 0.5 kg/ha, amount of working liquid 300 – 500 l/ha, soil spraying before sowing or planting plants – it is required to mix the preparation with the soil to a depth of about 15 cm.

– 0.3 to 0.5 kg/ha, amount of spray liquid 300 – 500 l/ha, spraying of plants after the resumption of spring vegetation.
